The waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry Hippo

I'm generally a patient person.  I don't usually fret or get too anxious about things. Everything will happen in good time. I'm happy to just go with the flow.

There are times in life when being patient and having to wait can just plain suck. When you want to speed everything up or just take a peek at what the outcome is going to be so you can relax (or prepare). You know, take a peek at the last page of a novel just to make sure your favourite character doesn't cark it.

As a family, we've got a lot of balls up in the air at the moment. The prospect of moving house, which will entail finding a new area we can live and be happy in. Finding a new home that we love, as well as selling this house and all that stress. Skip starting a new position at work, which will mean adjustment for him, extra stress and more travel, but will hopefully make his day more enjoyable and rewarding.

It's going to be an exciting year, but my mind keeps wandering to the all the negative possibilities. I hate feeling this way. I wish I could just take a peek at the last page and know how it all ends, so I can stop worrying.

One of my favourite quotes from The Simpsons sums up how I feel today, as Homer says: 'The waiting game sucks, let's play Hungry, Hungry Hippo.'

  1. My favourite Homer-ism :).
I feel like having a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos too. I'm waiting for ... I'm not sure exactly, but I've been feeling a need to move on in various areas of my life. I've been so impatient lately and it's not doing me any good. I want to flick forward a year to see where we're all at as I am tired of seeing nothing but grey murk.

Hope you get some exciting news soon x

  2. Hang in there, it will all work out. PROMISE. I was like this last year when we were going through all the upheaval and change and then, now, look! It just takes time.

Thinking of you ALL the time x

  3. Oh I hate to wait too... the suspense kills me. But, I really do try not to worry about unknowns, so for me the worry starts when I DO know and can start to get organised. Try not to think too much about the unknowns, Corinne. Wasted thoughts, every one of them.

Hope it works out quickly for you!!! x

  5. Hang in there, Corinne -I totally *get* where you're at. I guess why they called patience a virtue - it's now something that comes easily to most of us.
If you want a laugh, this is where I posted about that game (http://www.lifeonplanetbaby.com/2010/10/witching-hour-on-planet-baby-play-with_26.html). J x

  6. Poor Corinne, I know how you feel. My Mum has always called me 'an impatient little thing'. It makes me laugh, as she knows me as well as anyone in the world and she is SO RIGHT. I quite often think about how cool it would be to have a fast forward and rewind button on life.
Though on the flip-side, it's these trying times that build our character and definitely make us stronger people.
Hope everything turns out just how you are hoping it to... really soon :o)

  7. Hungry Hippos sounds like a great way to wait for the pages to turn.
